Ingredients:

Frozen mango: Frozen mango is easy to find at the grocery store and easy to store. This is typically what we use for mango smoothies. You can also use fresh mango if you have it available, but the consistency won’t be as icy.

Banana: The banana helps give a creamy consistency and enhances the sweetness of the smoothie.

Water and milk: A small amount of milk is useful for giving a creamy consistency, so we’ve used a combination of water and milk. You can use any type of milk, whether it’s from animals or plant-based (more on that below).

Ice cubes: The ice cubes give the perfect airy consistency.

Fresh lemon juice: Lemon juice is key to enhancing the flavors in the smoothie; it’s like salt in sweet dishes!

Instructions:

Put frozen mango, banana, water, milk, ice cubes, and fresh lemon juice in a blender.

Blend all the ingredients together until smooth and creamy.

If the smoothie is too thick, you can add more water or milk to achieve the desired consistency.

Coffee Smoothie

If you’re looking for a healthy and refreshing drink that will give you energy, you should try this coffee smoothie recipe. We’ve spent a long time perfecting this recipe to get the perfect coffee taste and texture, reminiscent of Wendy’s Frosty, but with healthy ingredients. The recipe is inspired by a drink from a local coffee shop in town, where they call it the “Healthy Elephant” (so you can call it that too if you want!). Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

Ingredients:

Frozen bananas

Espresso, cold brew, or strong coffee – see notes on the different methods below!

Oats

Almond butter

Milk of your choice: dairy or non-dairy

Honey

Ice

Instructions:

Start by preparing the coffee or espresso. Let it cool.

In a blender, add the frozen bananas, oats, almond butter, milk, honey, and ice.

Add the coffee or espresso that you have cooled.

Blend everything together in the blender until you have a smooth and even consistency.

Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve!

Notes:

You can use either espresso, cold brew, or strong coffee in the recipe. If you use cold brew or strong coffee, the consistency of the smoothie will be slightly different than if you use espresso.

To make cold brew, add coffee and cold water to a container and let it sit in the fridge for at least 12 hours. Strain out the coffee beans, and you have cold brew!

If the smoothie is too thick, you can add a little more milk to thin it out.

This Brazilian bowl is one of my favorite treats, and I was happy to find a fun new way to enjoy it. Here’s what you need to know!

What is acai, anyway?

Açaí is a berry that grows on palm trees in Brazil. (How do you pronounce acai? Say “ah-sah-EE”.) This beautiful purple berry has taken off in worldwide popularity as a health food moment. Acai berries have an impressive healthy profile, filled with antioxidants and nutrients. But remember, they are also as nutritious as easily accessible fruits like blueberries.

Ingredients for an acai smoothie

This acai smoothie is very easy to make, once you have found your acai pulp! Here’s what you need:

  • Acai pulp: See above! You can find this in the freezer section near the fruit in your local grocery store or online.
  • Lime juice: Gives just the right “zing” to the taste.
  • Frozen pineapple chunks: Enhances the acai berries with tropical flavor and sweetness.
  • Fresh or frozen mango: Adds a similar flavor. It’s important to add naturally sweet fruit because the berries are naturally tart.
  • Banana: Adds a final touch of sweetness and a creamy texture.

Procedure:

  1. Start by preparing the acai pulp according to the package instructions.
  2. Add the acai pulp to a blender along with lime juice, frozen pineapple chunks, fresh or frozen mango, and banana.
  3. Blend everything together in the blender until you have a smooth and even consistency.
